The Stengel Dive actually looks like it will be pretty intense. I'm really looking forward to experiencing it, along with the rest of the ride!

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread

Track to go up tomorrow

Half of the beautiful drop - we expect the yellow support to get painted and predict the drop will extend 75 feet above it's existing point.

2nd to last turn before the brakes. The banking is close to 90 degrees and we expect the train to scream through this section

Going up the first 80 foot airtime hill. This hill can not be completed until the lift hill if finished since it will block the crane in place.

Stengel Dive!

Intertwined track - you can see a potential head shopper here. The track at the bottom of the page is right after the first drop, while the track above it is a turn around, and entering the Stengel Dive(the train will be approaching from this angle

This looks like scafolding, but judging by the flimsy nature of the wood, I'm not really sure what it is. Could it be for checking clearance? Any suggestions?

Track to be installed tomorrow, and some lift pieces.

Another 90 degree turn, not the Stengel Dive.

Another funky support. Could be for the track close to the new walkway or for the maintenance path by Comet's exit. Any suggestions?

Bags taken off the station wall. Progress. Note the yellow brackets which will be for the lift cable.

Coming along VERY nicely!
We'll have another update Thursday, with a possibly completed lift by then, we suggest you REGISTER!
Thanks for viewing our update. Have an awesome new year!

Today was the big day to see lift hill here's how it played out.

The Next pictures show the new track supports on site

The looper feels left out so some guys were there giving him some love today for the new cars.

Now on to the airfield for some more shots!

And I returned from the air field to find this for tomorrow

NOTE: ALL these images were taken by me on 1/7/2012, ignore the date printed on the image, as my camera's date is messed up and I need to fix it.
Enjoy!

A man working on the beautiful lift support.
/
Working on the lift tower.

The lift track will go in that yellow piece, see the temporary support? And, it sure is steep!

Work being done to the station of Skyrush.

Prepping this piece of track to go up!

They put a plastic bag around the reel that will house the lift cable.

Electrical house.

Crews at work! These stones seem to me for landscaping.

See the stone wall started? That wall will help to hold the creek in it's boundaries. It should look nice. While now the site is a mess, once Skyrush is done it will all be landscaped. It will look very pretty.

Next piece to go up! That piece will be the piece between the end of the first airtime hill and into the 1st turn around.

More of the stone wall like seen in a previous picture.

They got a lot of track and supports up today! This is the first turn around, coming of the first airtime hill.

Prepping this piece of track!

Almost ready to lift it!

Back to the stone wall that was built.

It's lifting!! They're now working to balance it out so it can install easily.

Higher and higher baby! (Yes, I know that's from a ELO song!
)

It got a little tangled in a tree!

Uh-oh, it's 3pm, quitting time for construction crews! What do we do with this track now? LOL, lower it back down of course!

And here it sits until Monday!

Talk to ya' later Skyrush!
HEY! Where did WaveSwinger go???
LOL.

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
Greetings from New Jersey.
I'm a lil bummed that the track switched from double spine to that single spine. I did see though that because of the available land there a larger cluster of supports showed up that allowed the track to switch back to single spine. Intamin is back to their old ways. They switched from box lattice track to triangular to thin station track on Millenium Force. I have the preference for the one mostly consistent in thickness B&M box track.

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
For me, my focus is on the ride experience. I'm not an engineer, but would assume the reason the tracks change between single and double spine is forces the track must absorb and cost. I don't think we'll see the box track make a return, and believe on the construction to date, Skyrush is going to be not only a great looking ride, but also deliver a world class ride experience.

The new park path will be where those cluster of supports are too? I think it balances out allowing for safe path to be built and the forces get evenly distributed over the area. I'm glad when the supports get away from the creek too.

At this rate, I suspect the lift may be crowned Saturday or Sunday. Maybe earlier. Since they're bolting multiple pieces and installing them all at once. Will be an exciting week!

Here are more pictures, courtesy of my friend Alex's (coasteral here at the site) mom who happened to be in the area today:

The lift hill really dwarfs Comet.

Shouldn't be too much longer until our baby is crowned.

Got to be the steepest cable lift out there so far.

Wonder what Clifford is up to now...

Some of what's left out in the old airfield.
That's it for this small update. We'll be covering more, especially when Skyrush gets crowned so stay tuned!
