It would be no doubt. Given Leviathan cost $28 million, I think anything is possible. I personally think we're going to see a giga/hyper wing-rider, or at least that's my guess.

My guess is something B&M, hopefully something that fits the Dive Machine/Wing-Rider category. It'd be pretty cool if it were a Dive Machine, and to have a holding brake looking towards Lake Eerie for a short while, but then guests remember they're on a coaster again as they drop from a great height after a short period of viewing the panoramic view from Cedar Point... Razz

I seriously doubt it will be a dive machine chris. It very well could have a lift like Swarm heading towards the beach, and then diving back inland. Don't know, but it will be fun to watch and speculate. No Doubt !!

Hmph, that's weird wasn't the other B&M track green? Or could this mean we're looking at TWO wingriders (possibly in the U.S.) next year?! cheers

It makes sense since CP and SFGA are due for a coaster. Is the blue track wing rider as well?

Did anyone see the mention on Cedar Point's Facebook page that their old steel coaster WildCat is being removed in part to help expand that area for the new laser light show? Going back to two coasters rumored to be installed for next year, could one of them end up in the new Celebration Plaza on WildCat's old spot?

Re: 2013 Coaster Prediction for CP

Post by thom25 on 2012-05-04, 00:27

Interesting points LFcoasterzombie and agree, though with a $25m cap ex for 2013, I think it will be tough for them to add two (2) coasters. I agree B&M is the likely manufacturer of the "big" one, and would expect CP's to hold some records. Raptor was the world's biggest inverted when it opened, so it would make sense for CP to have the worlds largest wing rider. Is Skyrush a wing rider? If it is, CP's would have to be over 200 feet.

I do agree a kiddie coaster in camp Snoopy makes perfect sense, while using the former Wildcat space to accommodate this new coaster would be ideal. I think a wing rider using the Wildcat space to interact with the midway would be the perfect compliment to corkscrew's interaction.

It's going to be a great summer of speculation !

Skyrush is considered a "Winged Coaster" by HP, not a Wingrider. Dollywood's Wild Eagle is considered a Wingrider.

WE at Dollywood is 210 tall with a 135 foot drop at $20 million dollars, so if Cp wanted the tallest Wingrider it would have to be over 210 feet and it would eat up all of that 25 million dollar budget. So if that's the case then there will only be one new coaster at CP for 2013.

Maybe CP removing wildcat so quickly means they're putting up something smaller this year in that spot, and only one coaster next year. I personally would love to see a 250 ft wing rider with a station behind raptor's cobra.

I highly doubt they would add another coaster this year on such short notice. If it would've been announced, we'd already know. Perhaps a family-type coaster (Wild Mouse) or kiddie coaster and the rumored Wingrider will be in the works for next season.

Re: 2013 Coaster Prediction for CP

Ok, first, HP calls Skyrush a winged coaster and B&M calls theirs a wing-rider - but aren't they still the same? Seats outside of the track? What are enthusiasts going to call them?

In any event, to be the biggest, CP would need to break 200 feet (sweet) !!

I do not believe we'll see a coaster this year at CP, and definitely believe at least one will be built in 2013. Two isn't out of the question, since a newer wild mouse is pretty cheap in the scheme of things.

Actually, no. Skyrush is a "mega/hyper coaster with winged seating". Intamin calls their coasters with 4 winged seats a "WingRide Coaster", B&M calls theirs a "Wing Coaster".

A Wingrider has the pairs of the seats OUTSIDE the track - think Wild Eagle. With a Winged Coaster, the only two of the seats are floorless, the other two are like a typical coaster train.

Re: 2013 Coaster Prediction for CP

Post by thom25 on 2012-05-05, 10:52

I knew what the ride manufacturers called their respective coasters, I just phrased it poorly. I guess what I was asking is what big bucket will Skyrush fall into (mega or wing), or will it be by itself as a "mega with wings"?

Getting back on topic, here's a thought. Maybe CF will add B&M products to their other parks due to reliability, but will continue with Intamin at CP due to their extreme thrills and added maintenance.

If this were true, CP could install a Zac Spin and a winged coaster both from Intamin. And to take it to the next level, maybe they would order a bigger Skyrush with 6 across seating. Why waste the space over the track? You have to agree it would have HUGE capacity. It's not my prediction, but is possible.

Skyrush would be considered both I would think. Perhaps a "Winged Hypercoaster" or "Hyper-winger" would be my guess.

Wait was it for sure that both sets of track were Wing rider? Or was one another type? If they are both wing rider it strengthens my opinion that CP will get one. If the other is wing rider, SFGA will not be getting it, but we can speculate on that other park!

I haven't seen or heard confirmation of what kind of track the set is, but they do look the same from the pictures I've seen. Does anyone know any more?

I'm not sure I agree with ya Knotts that SFGA and CP both couldn't be getting wing riders, especially if CP's is bigger. Residents in the Tri-State area will go to Ohio for a record breaker, while SFGA may not care given the size of their market.

With CP unexpectedly removing Wildcat, I think they could be getting 2 coasters in 2013, and would suspect those rides would be from the same manufacturer.
